Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, on Monday dismissed concerns about the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) that may threaten humanity, calling it a hoax. He stated on his social media platform, Truth Social: "I am a hoax-buster and I am currently busting another hoax - that AI is going to dominate us and destroy the world!"
Addressing Global Concerns
Trump drew a comparison between concerns about AI and warnings about climate change, stating that these issues are as unrealistic as the warnings regarding Russia during his presidency. He claimed: "This issue is even stranger than the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax and the global warming hoax." While global concerns about AI are rising, Trump emphasized the need to accelerate the development of this technology, stating that America cannot fall behind China in the AI race.

Reactions and New Regulations
Concerns about AI have particularly increased after Anthropic, led by Dario Amodei, announced that companies should slow down the development of AI technologies. This request was supported by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX. Meanwhile, Microsoft released a "human behavior code for AI" on Monday, emphasizing that "AI should not exceed human control."
Concerns about energy-intensive AI data centers have become a major issue in the U.S. midterm elections. Meanwhile, Congress appears to be at a legal impasse on this matter. Maileka Mohammed, a New York citizen, stated: "The reality is that AI is here. We have unleashed a monster, so now we must focus on controlling it to prevent it from going out of control."
Trump also criticized those who oppose AI technology, accusing them of treason and stating: "This is a sick conspiracy against AI and data centers." He specifically referenced Amodei and questioned why AI companies are calling for regulations that would "bring them to bankruptcy." In the meantime, China has also intensified its warnings about the dangers of AI, describing it as the "main battleground of global technology competition."
As global concerns about the potential risks of AI increase, the United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on this topic next week. Volker Turk, the UN Human Rights Chief, has urged various countries and AI companies to take swift action to limit this technology, which poses "unprecedented risks."
