Etihad Airways has increased its passenger capacity compared to last year, indicating a recovery in the Middle Eastern aviation industry following disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine. Antonioaldo Nutes, the CEO of Etihad Airways, announced on Monday that the company currently has 15 to 17 percent more capacity than last year.
Increased Load Factor
Nutes also referred to the load factor, which reached 92 percent in August. The company aims to achieve a load factor of over 87 percent for the remainder of the year. According to him, "We have returned to our normal path." These statements reflect the company's optimism regarding the improvement of its financial and operational situation in the near future.

Consequences of War and Visa Restrictions
The war in Iran, which began at the end of February, has disrupted flights in the Middle East and beyond. However, Middle Eastern airlines are gradually resuming their operations. Nutes predicted that the company's revenue this year will remain stable compared to 2025, while profitability is expected to be nearly zero. He also mentioned the disruptions caused by trade disputes and visa restrictions, stating, "The global situation affects us. The decisions of the United States and Canada regarding visas have impacted traffic from India to these countries."
This has particularly affected student traffic from India to Canada and the United States and may negatively impact travel planning.
Anticipation for the Winter Season
The CEO of Etihad Airways is optimistic about the upcoming winter season, although he noted changing demand patterns and an increase in last-minute bookings, similar to the views of his counterpart in Emirates. Additionally, Nutes reminded that the company is generating liquidity for investment in its fleet.
On Monday, Etihad Airways announced its new cabin design in first, business, and economy classes for the Airbus A321 LR and A330 aircraft, which are expected to be delivered in the middle of next year. This new design reflects the company's efforts to enhance passenger experience and increase the attractiveness of its services.
