Mohammed bin Sulayman, the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), made controversial statements declaring that Fernando Alonso's departure from Formula 1 under failure conditions is unacceptable. He emphasized the importance of fair competition in the world of Formula 1, introducing this issue as one of the fundamental principles of the sport.
The Importance of Competition in Formula 1
Bin Sulayman further stated that every driver deserves to compete under equal conditions and this matter should be given special attention. He also told reporters: "Leaving Formula 1 under these conditions means disregarding the efforts and hard work of many individuals in this industry." These statements come at a time when Alonso, the experienced and popular driver, has not been able to deliver the expected performance this season.
Alonso's Future in Formula 1
Despite some experts considering Alonso's retirement, bin Sulayman believes that this driver should continue to compete. "We cannot allow one of the greatest names in the history of Formula 1 to simply exit this arena. He must face challenges and be at his best," he added.
These statements clearly reflect the federation's concerns about the sudden departure of great drivers from the competitive scene. While the world of Formula 1 is heavily influenced by commercial and media competitions, bin Sulayman emphasizes that maintaining the appeal and competition in this sport must be a priority.
