Peacock has canceled the crime series M.I.A. after just one season, and this series, set in Miami, ended only a few months after its premiere. The show was released on the streaming platform on May 7, 2023, with all nine episodes made available simultaneously.
Cancellation Details
According to reports, Peacock has not decided to continue production on a second season of M.I.A., although the exact reason for this cancellation has not yet been specified. The series was created by Bill Dubuque, one of the creators of the successful series Ozark, and stars Shannon Gillet as Ota Tiger Jones. Ota's story, a young woman from the Florida Keys, revolves around the changes that occur after a tragedy in her family life.

Story and Cast
M.I.A. follows Ota as she enters the criminal underground of Miami, trying to take down one of the city's powerful cartels and seek revenge for what happened to her family. Other cast members include Cary Elwes, Dani Garcia, Brittany Adabomola, Dailen Jackson, Alberto Gra, and Marta Milans.
After its initial release, Peacock paid more attention to the M.I.A. series, and NBC also aired its first episode as a special broadcast on May 14. The series is notable for its filming in Miami and for using the city and the Florida Keys as the backdrop for Ota's journey in the criminal world.
The production of this series was handled by MRC, with Karen Campbell serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dubuque and others. With the cancellation of this series, the first season with nine episodes is also recognized as its final season.
