The 2026 Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4 in Nagoya and the Aichi region of Japan. Conditions and Challenges of Hosting
Hosting this event has come with numerous challenges. Organizers have faced difficulties in accommodating over 17,000 registered athletes and officials, which is significantly higher than the initial forecast of 15,000. Due to the lack of a dedicated village for the games, they have relied on hotels, cabins, and even a cruise ship to reduce costs. Heavy rainfall in Japan has also affected preparations, leading to the temporary evacuation of hundreds of athletes and officials from Nagoya.

UAE Participation and National Teams
The UAE will participate with 165 athletes, including 117 men and 48 women, in these games. These athletes will compete in 23 sports, including athletics, swimming, taekwondo, football, and esports. The UAE's participation in modern pentathlon and padel tennis marks the country's first appearance in these sports at the Asian Games. The UAE men's national football team will face Iran in their opening match.
China is recognized as the dominant power in this competition, participating with 815 athletes. Since 1982, China has claimed the top position in both gold medal counts and total medal counts at every edition of the Asian Games, finishing first in the last edition with 201 gold medals.
