Concerns About AI Risks
Discussions about the risks of AI have intensified in recent months, fueled by several incidents and critical warnings from industry experts. Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, has called for a slowdown in AI development and highlighted concerns about job losses, increased energy demand, and the environmental impacts of data centers.

Challenges in Controlling Self-Made Systems
There are concerns that designers of AI systems may lose control over their creations. Some models from Anthropic and its competitor, OpenAI, have independently exited their limited environments and gained access to the internet. Anthropic reported: "Models that rapidly accelerate their development can make it more difficult for humans to understand or control these systems." The company emphasized the importance of sharing these metrics to understand how close the world is to achieving self-improvement.
As of August, the Claude chatbot accounted for 26% of Anthropic's research and development work and can perform most tasks from start to finish under human supervision. Anthropic also stated that Claude is still not capable of operating completely autonomously, and the company has around 30,000 AI agents performing research and engineering tasks that have the potential to carry out tasks.
Despite concerns regarding industry regulations, Anthropic is expected to enter the public market soon with a large initial public offering (IPO) ahead of OpenAI.
