Brazilian police announced on Friday that they have arrested a suspected serial killer accused of at least 16 murders since May, while dressed in women's clothing and carrying a baby. This individual claims that the number of murders he has committed is more than four times this amount.
Details of the Arrest
The suspect was arrested on Sunday after a 30-hour police chase in a forested area of Paraíba in northeastern Brazil. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing women's clothing and a long black wig, which police described as a trick to evade capture. According to reports, the baby he was holding was not his child, and police have not released details about the baby's condition or whereabouts.

Confessions and Claims of the Suspect
Police stated that although the suspect claims to have participated in 80 murders, he has currently only confessed to 16 murders in this area, of which he has confirmed 11 during interrogation. All these crimes occurred since May, and the identities of the victims and details of these murders have not yet been publicly released. This suspect had escaped from a previous arrest a few weeks prior to this capture due to a confrontation with security forces.
In an interrogation video obtained by the media, this individual claims to have acted alone and has no connections to criminal organizations. He also stated that all his victims were "connected to the criminal world" and that he took justice into his own hands due to threats against himself and his family. He emphasized that he has never acted against non-criminal individuals.
This suspect also revealed that he committed his first murder at the age of 13. After an unsuccessful attempt to arrest him, police confiscated several bulletproof vests, a part of an automatic rifle, and over 100 rounds of ammunition from him, which he admitted to owning during interrogation.
This case clearly highlights the security challenges in Brazil and the expansion of organized crime in the country. Given the rising rates of violence and crime, Brazilian police are under increased pressure to combat such crimes and improve security conditions in various regions of the country.
