Etihad Airways has launched a new experience by introducing the Beyond Borders cabins on its flights. This new initiative will be offered in three service classes (First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class) and was unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai on September 14, 2026.

Details of the New Experience

The new Beyond Borders cabins, which will soon be installed in Etihad Airways' fleet, are just part of this innovative experience. This initiative also includes enhancements to the passenger experience at the airport, lounges, dining experiences, and in-flight communications.

The first aircraft to be equipped with the new Beyond Borders cabins will be the Airbus A330-900neo, which is set to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2027. In November 2025, Etihad Airways placed an order for 15 A330-900 aircraft as part of its growth strategy. This order includes six aircraft directly from Airbus and nine others through the leasing company Avolon.

Increased First Class Capacity

The Abu Dhabi-based airline has acknowledged the growing demand for luxury travel and intends to increase the number of First Class seats, particularly in regional and medium-haul markets where the A330-900s are allocated. The new Beyond Borders cabins will feature four First Class suites with closed doors and ample space for two companions to dine or socialize.

In addition to First Class, the A330-900 will also have 24 Business Class seats that fully recline and offer direct aisle access, along with 252 Economy Class seats. Of these, 32 Economy seats will have extra legroom, providing four inches more than the standard leg space.

Etihad Airways has allocated one billion dollars for cabin upgrades as part of its 20 billion dollar investment program, which also includes the acquisition of new aircraft.

In a statement released on the occasion of the Beyond Borders introduction, Etihad Airways emphasized that the positive performance of A321LRs equipped with First Class cabins has encouraged the company to expand these services to shorter destinations as well.

Ultimately, the new updates in the A330-900 cabins are designed to enhance the passenger experience and respond to the changing needs of the market. With these changes, Etihad Airways aims to strengthen its position in the luxury travel market and increase customer satisfaction.
