Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to President Sheikh Mohammed, announced that recent attacks on Saudi Arabia directly affect the security and prosperity of the UAE. These remarks came following the Houthi attack on Mecca on Tuesday night, during which a drone was intercepted and destroyed before entering the airspace of this holy city.

The Link Between UAE and Saudi Security

Dr. Gargash, at the Arab Media Summit in Dubai, pointed to the necessity of rebuilding trust with Iran and stated that this country has regularly attacked Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He added: "The security and prosperity of the UAE are directly dependent on the security and prosperity of Saudi Arabia." Dr. Gargash also mentioned the threats posed by Iranian-backed militia groups acting without official government support. He said: "Weapons not in the hands of the government destabilize the country [Iran]."

Consequences of the Crisis and the Need for Dialogue

Dr. Gargash emphasized that the current crisis requires minimal damage and that the continuation of this crisis should end with consideration for mutual interests. He said: "The role of the UAE is not only self-defense and maintaining sovereignty but also being prepared for open dialogue with Iran. This crisis will end, and we must be ready for a new chapter." Dr. Gargash also stressed the need to establish relations with Iran and noted that rebuilding this trust will take years.

He added that Iran should pay more attention to its strategic decisions regarding Gulf Cooperation Council countries and end its attacks. Furthermore, Dr. Gargash referred to the meeting of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian with Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, at the BRICS summit in New Delhi, stating that this meeting could initiate a positive process for the future.
